We Made It!

Hi everyone! We made it! Sorry we haven't posted or emailed sooner, but we're having problems with our electronic equipment and the Internet. We're at an Internet cafe in Taraz right now. There is a 12 hour time difference between home and here, so when it is 9:00am in the morning in SA it is 9:00pm in the evening here.
We got into Almaty, Kazakhstan on Friday, Jan. 5th at 5:45am. It was FREEZING! We took a train at 6:45pm that evening and arrived in Taraz at 4:30am Saturday morning. We checked into our hotel, Hotel Gazovik, and ate breakfast there at around 9:00am. We had porridge, crepes, bread, and hot tea. (All I had eaten from the time we got off the plane until Saturday's breakfast was a small croissant, hot tea, a few M&Ms, and a Sprite.)
Sorry we do not have any photos to post yet since we're at the Internet Cafe. Hopefully, we will be up and running soon!
Saturday our representative's son and our interpreter took us on a tour of the city. We will post pictures later. They also took us to buy a few much needed groceries to keep in the room. For instance, we needed bottled water to brush our teeth.
We were disappointed that we have not been able to visit the baby house to see the baby yet, but we will on Monday.
Well, now it is later in the evening, and we figured out how to get Internet in our room, so we posted a picture. Since it took FOREVER to upload the one little picture on this dial-up connection, we'll post more later when we figure out how to solve our lack of power problem. The battery on our laptop is low.
Well, Bye for now!
Thanks for the comments...keep them coming! It's nice to hear from everyone!

What a cute picture!!!! It looks like a beautiful country and not really that cold during the day. The snow always makes me feel warmer for some strange reason. Of course this is coming from a person who loves snow and recently made a snow angel in Colorado. WE are looking forward to your next pictures of you guys and the baby. It is so exciting!!!!!!! and very close now. I just had to open a new account because the first one would not let me publish my comment. I hope I don't have to do that every time or I'll have lots of accounts by the time I finish. I'm sure it is something that I did wrong, but God is the only one that knows exactly what. Take Care and God Bless Love ginny and Gary
